About Us

A little bit about me

I’m Katie Buncombe, and in 2018, I became the founder of Equiflex Therapy PEMF.

I wasn’t lucky enough to be brought up in an “equine family”, however that changed when I was offered the ride and loan of a cheeky Welsh Section B when I was at school. I carried on riding until we hit exams at GCSE/A Levels when they became my priority and unfortunately horses took a back seat. Fast forward 10 years, 2 agriculture-based degrees and a lot of farm animals later and a friend asked me on a hack. Safe to say, fire re-ignited!

This led me into the world of equine therapy where I have now spent more than 9 years helping horses of all breeds, ages and disciplines and am proud to be an FEI Permitted, Internationally recognised Equine Therapist and Advanced PEMF Practitioner.

I am a firm believer that the best results come from observing, listening and combing hands-on experience with scientific evidence-based practice. That is why I have continued to invest in my education, gaining qualifications including an MSc (Royal Dick Veterinary College at Edinburgh University), BSc(Hons), FdSc, Advanced PEMF Practitioner and specialist certifications in many other areas including advanced myofascial release, equine biomechanics, neuro-myofascial release, trigger point and more. I am also working towards PhD research at Hartpury, further strengthening my commitment to evidence-based equine care.

A little bit about Equiflex

At Equiflex, my aim is simple; help every horse move freely, more comfortably and perform at their best, within their individual set of unique limits. My own horse has been my greatest teacher, showing me how important observation, listening to the horse and owner and forming a complete picture is just as important as any textbook. This philosophy shapes every session I carry out.

Whether I’m working with a happy hacker, a much-loved veteran, or an international competition horse, every horse receives the same high standard of care and attention. With over nine years of experience, I combine advanced qualifications in equine therapy with a commitment to continual professional development. I am a fully insured and approved therapist, with many affiliations and memberships.

Equiflex Therapy use a range of proven techniques to help improve mobility, support recovery, reduce muscular tension, and optimise performance. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual horse, working alongside owners, riders, coaches, farriers, physiotherapists, veterinarians, and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes.

My approach is built on trust, honesty, and a genuine love for horses. I believe that understanding how the body works is key to helping every horse feel, move, and perform to the best of its ability.

Driven by science, guided by compassion, dedicated to every stride.
